Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi are well accepted both locally and Internationally as highlife musicians but Legendary Gyedu Blay Ambolley thinks otherwise as he classifies them as high time Reggae musicians.
In a recent comment made by Ambolley, he particularly laid emphasis on the fact that Kojo Antwi and Daddy Lumba are Reggae musicians and they know it, hence, he doesn’t factor the substance of they being classified as highlife musicians.
Gyedu Blay proved further by comparing their kind of music they call highlife to back in the day highlife music where legends like ‘Agya Koo Nimo’ ,’Opambour’ all the way to ‘Paapa Yankson’ , ‘Amakye Dede’ , ‘Adofo’ and the likes where making authentic highlife music.
He said, “the highlife music we enjoy from Paapa Yankso and Amakye Dede is totally different from what Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi are doing and theirs cannot be called highlife, it is trending on similar path but its reggae”
He explained this during a phone interview on ghone tv.
Anyway, they both have been globally accepted as highlife musicians and now Ambolley is coming up with this, is it even necessary especially when they have gotten to the peak of their career and thinking of retiring?
