Facebook, Instagram, Twitter slap sanctions on Donald Trump

Major social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have threatened a sanction on the account of the outgoing President of the United States of America, President Donald Trump.

These sanctions follow a series of tweets and posts seeking to encourage Trump supporters to perpetrate violence after consistently rejecting the outcome of the 2020 Presidential results which went in favor of Joe Biden.

These inappropraite tweets and posts as classified by the social media giants led to the Insurrection at the US capitol.

Trump’s consistency in condonning shameful acts exhibited by his suporters to disrupt the transition process to pave way for Joe Biden’s swearing in was much worrying and disturbing.

This, the social media giants claimed it infringes on their user policies and are immediately imposing sanctions on Trump’s social accounts.

In effect, some of Trump’s tweets which were found to be unlawful have been deleted by twitter.

Twitter safety, an account set up by the Twitter company to scrutinize tweets and posts of users which are sensed to be infringing on other people’s rights have vowed to permanently delete three tweets of Donald Trump which it thinks is inappropriate and are violating their policies.

“As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump Tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy. https://t.co/k6OkjNG3bM” – @Twittersafety

Also, Ceo of facebook and Instagram said in a post on facebook that:

“The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden.

His decision to use his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building has rightly disturbed people in the US and around the world. We removed these statements yesterday because we judged that their effect — and likely their intent — would be to provoke further violence.
Following the certification of the election results by Congress, the priority for the whole country must now be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and the days after inauguration pass peacefully and in accordance with established democratic norms.
Over the last several years, we have allowed President Trump to use our platform consistent with our own rules, at times removing content or labeling his posts when they violate our policies. We did this because we believe that the public has a right to the broadest possible access to political speech, even controversial speech. But the current context is now fundamentally different, involving use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government.
We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”

The newly elected president of the United states, Joe Biden in a tweet calmly called on Trump to call his angry supporters to order to create a conducive atmosphere for the Transistion process to continue.
