Multiple award-winning dancehall act, Shatta wale has edged bloggers not to publish his ‘Gift of God’ album to the public for free download.
Free songs download is a threat to Ghanaian artists, as every penny spent to produce songs to thrill their fans and to expand their career is never recouped.
Ghanaian artistes main stream of income comes from performances at concerts and digital streams.
Music is purely business but Ghanaian fans don’t really see it as such, as they prefer downloading a song for free to streaming or purchasing a record from digital stores.
Many Ghanaian artists have raised concerns and gone to the extent of threatening legal suit against bloggers and publishers who put their songs out to the public for free download.
As part of his strategies, the ‘My Level’ hitmaker has promised to handsomely reward blogs who will desist from publishing his songs for free downloads.
“Blogs that will not publish the song for free downloads will win something big !! but those who will try ….no free downloads, let’s all help to push the official links out there”
Pleading with those he feels won’t heed his request, The SM boss edged all to support his project by publishing links leading to digital streaming stores where his songs can be streamed and purchased instead of being downloaded for free.
