The Supreme Court of Ghana has quashed the restraining order placed on the organizers of the FixTheCountry demo.
The court presided over by Justice Yaw Appau said on Tuesday, June 8 that the High Court’s order was an error.
This comes after the Ghana Police Service secured a restraining order from an Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey on Thursday, May 6, 2021, to stop the organizers of the FixTheCountry demo from embarking on a scheduled demonstration.
The restraining order follows an affidavit filed by the police against the conveners of the protest march pursuant to Section 1 (6) of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
A section of Ghanaian youth who are not happy about the performance of Nana Akufo-Addo’s government started the online campaign to demand a better Ghana.
