Ghanaian Rap Superstar, Samuel Frimpong, famously known as Medikal made history at the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA 22) by winning the Hiplife/Hip-hop artiste award for the third time in a row.

He trashed the likes of Yaw Tog, Kwesi Arthur, Sarkodie, Kofi Jamar, Keche, Joey B and Eno Barony to win the category.

Fact check reveals that no artiste has won the hiplife/hip-hop artiste of the year award three consecutive times. Rapper Sarkodie was closer, won the category two times in a row on two different occasions.

The ‘Adonai’ crooner won it in the years 2010, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 respectively. Making him a 5-time champion of the hiplife-hip-hop category.

Catching up and getting ahead, The ‘La Hustle’ hit composer has broken Sarkodie’s 2-time win; remarkably raising heads with a third win in a row at the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA 22).

Medikal has won the hiplife/hip-hop category on three successive occasions, 2019, 2020 and 2021 uninterruptedly.
