Why Melinda Gates Could Become The Second Richest Woman After Her Divorce From Bill Gates

MELINDA GATES could become the second-richest woman after her divorce from Bill Gates.

privilegeamoah.com’s checks disclose that Melinda, who has empowered feminist causes, could be soon worth $73bn.

Divorce is the last resort for many couples who no longer wish to be together.

And for the Billionaire couple, this is how they end their fruitful love journey after 27 years of marriage.

The parents of three Rory John 21, and daughters Phoebe Adele, 18, and Jennifer Katharine, 25, announced their divorce on Twitter on Monday, May 3, saying:

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.

We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

Bill and Melinda who got married in 1994, have built multi-billion dollar businesses together.

They both founded Bill and Melinda Foundation in the year 2000 which holds about a 47billion dollars in assets as of now.

Adding to their successful business, Bill and Melinda launched ‘The Giving Pledge’ with the billionaire investor Warren Buffett in 2010, a commitment to give most of their wealth to charity during their lifetime or pledge to do so after their death.

In a divorce petition filed on Monday, the philanthropist said her relationship with Mr Gates had “irretrievably broken”. The pair’s collective fortune is $146bn (£105bn).

The now-divorced couple jointly owned around $124 billion (£89bn), which made them among the top five richest couples in the world.

Melinda would soon earn the second spot in the coveted list of the richest women in the world after a divorce settlement.

Melinda Gates will be behind Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, the owner of L’Oreal who has a staggering fortune of about $83 billion making her the richest woman in the world.

The couple have purchased several homes together, a private jet, a luxury art collection and a fleet of cars.

Their assets include a $125million (£90.3 million) compound on the outskirts of Seattle, a seaside property in San Diego and a ranch home in Santa Fe.

The billionaire couple also owns the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, founded in 2000.

The company has contributed more than $50 billion (£36.01) to various issues, including the elimination of polio and malaria.
