Nana Appiah Mensah popularly known as Nam1, left the shores of Ghana in the midst of the Menzgold brouhaha and ever since then it has been rumours only for us to be told he has been remanded in a Dubai prison for allegedly defrauding a certain gold trading company based in Dubai.
Nam1 arrived in Ghana and landed in the hands of the CID for critical interrogation concerning customers locked up cash and charges leveled against him.
Nana Appiah Mensah was detained for days before being proceeded to an Accra circuit court to stand trial.
He was accused of defrauding Mengold customers.
Nam1 in court on August was declared not guilty to any of the charges leveled against him.
They reappeared in court, he and his Lawyer to appeal for the GH 1billion bail condition to be reduced to Gh 5million on which the court somehow softened the bail condition and was declared free.
How Nam1 Got arrested in Dubai
Fast forward to a press briefing he held not too long ago, he disclosed what contributed to his unfortunate arrest in Dubai debunking all rumours tied around his neck.
According to Nam1, when the Menzgold incident happened, he made a trip overseas, precisely where Menzgold international branches are located and also to hunt for some monies owed to his company by a certain gold trading company called horizon royal diamonds based in Dubai.
Upon his arrival in Dubai to retrieve those monies as indicated, he was arrested by the Emirati Police for reasons that he had defrauded the company he went to retrieve monies from.
As confused and devastated as he was at that moment, he wanted to find out why he was being detained and got to know that a certain fake gold company had used Menzgold particulars including his personal passport to scam horizon royal diamonds.
Hence, his detention in the Emirati police custody for months until he was proceeded to court and declared not guilty to the charges leveled against him and made to walk away freely.
“Just as some people were making the issue look terrible, I want to state that I didn’t jump bail I took permission from EOCO before I left the country” – he said.
For those rumoring that Nana Appiah Mensah escaped to Dubai, he has clarified that he went with the permission of the state to retrieve monies to come settle his distressed customers.
